Dear Friends,                                                                                   one more child dead

Another child has died from measles in West Texas. The epidemic is spreading. This child, as the first, was unvaccinated. Speaking clearly in face of the loss, the worst and most terrible loss that parents can face, the loss of a child, speaking in the face of these parents, the parents of these two children and their loss … how can it be done? It must be done. I am a parent, and I take upon myself the duty to speak to all other parents, especially the parents of these two children, to whom I send all the love, all the compassion, all grief for irreparable harm that we all feel even when our own children are happy and thriving, all wishes for your future happiness. But now:

These two children died because they were not vaccinated. They were not vaccinated because their parents chose not to have them vaccinated. Their parents chose not to have them vaccinated because they were told by people whom they trusted that vaccinations were dangerous, more dangerous than the disease, perhaps even the cause of the disease. The people who told them this were conspiracy theorists with no medical qualifications whatsoever. Were they lying, or were they simply stupid? What does it matter, these two children who would be alive today if they had received the MMR vaccine are among hundreds of thousands who died unnecessarily because of the lies they were told by these people.

One of these people is Robert Kennedy, who is now Secretary of Health and Human Services. I’ll leave it to you all to read up on his latest prevarications. Kennedy must be dismissed and a properly qualified person must take his place. Who possibly imagines that this can occur in the administration of someone as stupid, ignorant and malicious as Trump?
