Dear Friends,                                                                                    Obama made a deal

Sometimes, during crises of all kinds huge to tiny, it’s best to wait for the dust to settle before going into causes. This crisis is not one of those crises. The issue is the Iranian nuclear energy program. The US and other countries signed an agreement with Iran in 2015, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), establishing limitations and conditions on the Iranian program. No one thought it was perfect (including the Iranians), but it was a real agreement, and the Iranians seemed to be adhering to it. Nonetheless, the Trump “Administration” withdrew from it in 2018. They would produce something far better. As usual, the “Administration” had no coherent explanation, but the obvious reason was that the agreement was an Obama policy success, and so had to be eliminated.

And as usual, since then, Trump did nothing either in his first term, or, now, in his second to “replace” the JCPOA with anything, let alone something better. This is why we are where we are today, June 23, 2025, do not forget it.
