Dear Friends, No recriminations, just what we know
We do not yet know how many died in the flash floods in Texas, including children from a summer camp. We must think about the dead and their loved ones. Nothing else. Forget about what could have been done. Now, remembering them, what must we do now so that this will not happen again, and again, and again and again. Remember the dead for themselves and so that we can save the lives of others (perhaps our own).
Develop the best possible systems for weather prediction. Develop and enact the best strategies, given what we know now, for diminishing the causes of human-induced climate change. Develop alternative modes of production to improve human well-being through its ultimate foundation, nature.
Forget about all the rest, they all know this, we all know this. The living must always keep living through the dead and for them.
Love and solidarity,
Bobby
