Dear Friends, Briefings (before a new year)
~Why does Kilmar Abrego Garcia continue to be persecuted? Because the Trump administration wrongly arrested him, wrongly deported him, and wrongly charged him for crimes pulled out of a hat. Yes, but wouldn’t all that be a reason to stop persecuting him? Yes, it would be a reason for any other presidential administration. I don’t see even Nixon doing this. Maybe against some powerful opponent, but Abrego Garcia is an ordinary person with a wife and children who wants to have an ordinary life in the US of A. He has a right to an ordinary life with his wife and children in the US of A. Vindictiveness is one of the primary Trump motives. His Administration cannot bear the fact that they got caught, they’ll do anything they can to ruin Abrego Garcia’s life and the life of his family. Kilmar Abrego Garcia is just one person, so many others are in his position or worse. But he has become an icon in the fight against the Trump regime’s illegal deportation policies. (I’m sure he wishes that he wasn’t, sorry, man.) He and his family deserve an ordinary American life, nothing stands in their way but the vindictiveness of people who should never ever have been allowed within a thousand miles of the powers of government. If he is deported we have all lost and we are all at fault.
~People were fired for comments on the murder of a mid-level reactionary propagandist. I disagree with the comments that made light of it, or even celebrated it. No one seems to care at all about comments starting with the president of the US of A mocking or celebrating the death of someone who through acting and directing gave enormous happiness to people around the world, and also stood as defender of the society that depends on laughter, happiness, and also unrelenting critique of itself.
~Artists cancelling their performances should say: our contracts are with The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. We have no idea what the Trump Kennedy Center even is. The contracts are void.
~Marjorie Taylor Greene says that Trump (yelling over the phone), when she asked him to publish the Epstein Files, said: “My friends will get hurt.” When she suggested that he hold an Oval Office meeting with some of the survivors he said that they “don’t deserve the honor” of coming to the Oval Office. I believe her.
~Rep. Madeleine Deane (D-PA) told Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) about the hardships facing her constituents because of loss of healthcare, he said “Good”.
~Republicans do not want adequate and affordable healthcare for all citizens.
~Murder (in the first degree) has become a normal practice of the Trump Administration.
Love and solidarity,
Bobby
