Dear Friends, Lies
No reason exists, no reason whatever, to think that Renée Good tried to run over a federal agent – the agent who killed her. So why does the question did she or didn’t she dominate public discussion; why do earnest members of the mainstream media bothsiderize with their normal pious platitudes, conscience clear?
Because the head of the federal agency responsible for the federal agent in question, and the president lied. Noem and Trump’s lies were so obviously lies that it’s surprising that even the mainstream media, always wanting to coddle the regime, didn’t speak up just a bit. (Just one example: deep snow and ice (!) on the ground, poor ICE agents trying to dig out their vehicles while under constant attack from the weaponized vehicles of crazed leftist paid agitators.)
Their lies: first, Renée Good was trying to run over a federal agent – the videos show this is false (and that snow wasn’t a driving problem); second, Renée Good was a “domestic terrorist” member of an “extreme left” organization seeking to overthrow the legitimate government. No such organization exists.
I’m not going to work through all these lies point by point. Many others have already done so (even me, a little). If anyone wants such a detailed refutation let me know, it’s real easy.
My only point is that Noem and Trump’s lies have done something, they have changed what reality is within the body politic: the videos show that the agents were never in danger, the driver was trying to get out of the way; no, they show the driver trying to run over an agent, so, what is the agent supposed to do? In self-defense he fires three (possibly four) shots at more or less point-blank range at the driver, and then, as her car goes off, driverless, shouts “f cking b tch” at the woman he has just killed – the latest analyses that I’ve heard conclude that he is the one who said those words.
Any competent administration of the federal agencies involved would, first, refrain from any statements other than the barest factual information until at least some preliminary investigation had taken place. Second, they would keep not only the head or heads of the agencies involved, but also the president from making premature statements. Third, in the statements prepared for agency heads, and the president, they would stick to the facts. They would not feed agency heads and the president grotesque and damaging falsehoods designed to obstruct proper investigation.
There isn’t a competent administration, there is no administration at all. Right now the federal government does not exist.
This is the moment when above all we must keep a clear head, when even if we have nothing else we have critical reason, critique: we know what they are doing. We do have more, much, much more. But doing more, and we must, is harder, but always going forward needs carrying with us the knowledge with which we began. Don’t let that knowledge be eroded by the drudgery that so often is needed in the intervals; above all, when the mainstream media tells us that we’re too extreme, that we must turn down the heat, that we must look for compromise – when they tell us all this, don’t attack them don’t waste time and energy refuting them point by point. Instead, use what they say to understand better what is true, and what needs to be done. Critique always works from within opposing arguments.
Will critique persuade anyone else? Well, I hope so, in the end. Right now it helps us to clear our minds so as to see the way forward.
Right now it allows us to say, clearly and without hesitation:
Renée Nicole Good was murdered by Jonathan Ross
Love and solidarity,
Bobby
